TJ-100 INTERFACE

MODULE

The TJ-100 interface module designed and manufactured by Desert Aerospace, LLC. allows easy wiring of the TJ-100 engine to one or two cockpits. Each function is routed through an individual cable without the need to solder wires from multiple signals and various locations in the aircraft together.

Connectors are standard D-sub with varying sizes and gender to prevent incorrect hookups. The enclosures are billet-machined aluminum with an EMI-blocking interlocking joint, and the circuitry maintains shield continuity.

We provide generic cable schematics for each of the five connectors on the interface module, including pins, wires (individual and shielded), connectors, and wire colors. An outline and mounting drawing are also provided for quick installation.

Connectors

1. TJ-100 (15P)

  • Accepts all signals from TJ-100 15-pin connector & routes to interface module

2. Data (15P)

  • Routes all signals from TJ-100 to CAN/SD unit for data storage

  • Mirrors TJ-100 connector (1)

  • May be swapped with TJ-100 connector (1)

3. Primary cockpit (15S)

  • Routes signals to the primary cockpit

  • Include engine display, hard stop (emergency kill), and optional Run/Stop switch*

4. Secondary cockpit (9S)

  • Routes engine display signals to secondary cockpit

    • Cockpit does not need to have emergency kill or Run/Stop switch functions

  • Omitted in single-place aircraft

  • Display unit power not provided through interface module

5. Throttle (9P)

  • Routes signals from throttle unit to engine.

  • Provides regulated 10V power from TJ-100 to throttle unit

  • Power is switched through connector (3) if optional Run/Stop switch is used

* Optional Run/Stop switch is used in situations where the throttle unit cannot be reached by the pilot(s), and the throttle unit is actuated by remote levers or slides attached to the throttle lever. In this case, the throttle unit lever always remains forward of the starting detent (run position), and starting or stopping the engine is attained by providing or removing power to the throttle unit. If starting sequence is accomplished by means of the throttle lever, simply connect pins 3 & 11 together to bypass this feature.
